Internet Marketing Tips - Keeping Your Pulse On Current Events

Lots of people who I talk to ask me how I get ideas for products. I really have to give a chuckle when I get asked these questions. When I hear them, it makes me think that most people are living in caves, which I know they're not. The truth is, if you would just open up your eyes and look around, there are tons of ideas for products and services just ripe for the taking if you do nothing else but check the daily news. That's right. Current events are so filled with great ideas that all you have to do is read the newspaper. This article is going to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Unless you really have been living in that cave, then you probably heard that just the other day (as of this writing) Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron's all-time home run record. Whether you think the man cheated, didn't cheat, deserves the record or doesn't, it is certainly news, and big news. Okay, you're probably thinking, "How can I make money off of this?" After all, you probably didn't catch the home run ball. Well, there are other ways.

How about starting a blog asking people what they think of the record. Put up a poll on the blog. Put up a guestbook for people to post comments. Get as much interest as you can. A topic like Barry Bonds is going to be hot for a long time. So take advantage of it. How? Well, how about joining an affiliate program like Amazon and promote sports books? Seek out online affiliate programs that specialize in sports cards. Maybe you even have Barry Bonds sports cards that you can sell at your site or on Ebay. Certainly there are a number of ways you can take advantage of this situation.

And yes, take advantage is exactly what it is. More explicitly, it's called exploiting. And there is nothing wrong with it. It's how the system works. You look for what people are interested in and then you sell it, plain and simple. And ironically, the things that people are interested in are in the news everyday. You can find them online or on TV or even on your car stereo. I personally listen to WFAN for all my sports news. If I think there is a good story coming up, I'll think of a way to make money on it.

That's what smart businessmen do. As long as you're not hurting anyone or doing anything illegal, there is nothing wrong with taking a current event and capitalizing on it. So the next time you're looking for a marketing idea, turn to current events.

There's more there than you realize.

To YOUR Success,

Event Fund Raising - Three Key Skills to a Successful Fund Raising Event

Putting together and seeing through a successful fund raising event can be very rewarding or a real pain in the neck. If you have been chosen to volunteer or to be in charge of the local charity fundraiser and you're trying to put together an event fund raising campaign that is successful you first need to consider if you're truly the person that should be running the event. This article will go into a few guidelines that will show you whether or not you have what it takes to be a successful event fund raiser.

How Well Organized Are You

One of the first keys in pulling off a successful event fund raiser is to make sure that you have all your ducks in a row. You should have a system set up where you can keep good records of all donations and all donors. By doing this you will not only help yourself with the current event that you're raising funds for, but it will help in future events, should you decide to continue on doing this.

The Personality Check

Have you ever taken a personality test or temperament test to determine whether or not you have natural leadership skills or if you're more of a follower? Sometimes people think they don't want to lead an event. However, they do possess the skills that make for very good leaders. If you don't already know what your personality type is this a be a good time to do a small little test and find out what your skill sets are.

Along the same lines of knowing what your personality type is - a good leader will also know what the personality types and skill sets of all their volunteers of the volunteers you will be having to help with the event fund raising project. By knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each of your volunteers, you can place them in the proper positions and have a much more successful fundraising experience.

Local Community Influence

Last but not least, if you're going to lead any kind of the charitable event fund raising project - You need to have a good influence on several prominent business leaders in your area. You are going to rely on these people to help boost your donations in the early stages of the fund raising event.

Parents & Kids - Talk About Current Events

Talking with your Kids about Current Events?

Why not?  There are so many news articles on line, in newspapers and on TV that are truly worthy of noting.  The trick if you're going to talk with your kids about them is to avoid our adult urge to "comment" and/or share our own opinions.  Talk about a turn off!  Most kids are pretty darned sure about OUR opinions--and they don't need a lecture from us.

The purpose of talking to kids about current events is to get THEIR opinions and thoughts.  For example, just recently there was a news story about Levi Johnson (you know Bristol Palin's former boyfriend?).  He was being interviewed and was asked: "Do you have any regrets?".  He replied that he didn't regret "being a father".  No matter what your political beliefs, this is a great lead-in to a discussion.

In this example, no matter what your opinions and ideas on the subject, this in-the-news broadcast issue can provide a glimpse into your child's notions and beliefs about many aspects of this story.   This could be a good opening to talk about "premarital sex", "teen relationships", "behavioral choices",  "risky behavior", "long-term plans", and a whole bunch more.

If you wanted to start a conversation with your child about any of these issues, how would you begin?  Sit down and say, "I've been wanting to talk to you about ____"  or "Now's a good time for us to talk about ___" Or "What do you think about ____?"  Any of these openings delivered out-of-the-blue is likely to illicit an unspoken thought: "Oh, boy, here we go...here comes the lecture!"

The mistake that many parents might make in bringing up a life-lesson subject into a discussion is that we adults often want to lead the discussion.  After all, we've got the maturity and life-long experience to impart.  When we tout our own opinions before finding out what our children think, we often shut the door to an open and genuine conversation.  Kids often perceive the spontaneous personal "conversation" as a one-way lecture and give us a glazed stare--have you noticed?

Instead, using another outside-the-family specific person or event (like one "in the news"), provides a sense of being an observer to the issue.  By seeing the issue from a slight distance parents and kids can talk about them and their issues--them or what they or how that worked for them--it's not quite so personal or open to personal criticism or embarrassment.

Here are some tips to connecting with your child and finding out what he/she thinks:

  1.  Be vigilant!  Be on the look-out in the newspaper, on-line and in televised news for stories that can open a discussion.  It might be about sex, drugs or music--it might be about personal safety--it might be about school behaviors or education.  The news is full of ideas--EVERYDAY!
  2. Ask if your child heard the story (on the news, in the paper or on-line) about _____.  If not, explain what happens in the story.  If so, ask, "What do you think about it?"
  3. Be prepared to ask open-ended questions so that you won't get a "uh" or a "yes" or a "no".  Try questions like "What do you think he was thinking?" or "What do you imagine he thought was going to happen?" or "How do you suppose he got in that predicament?".
  4. Avoid asking leading or personal questions like: "You wouldn't do that, would you?" or (even worse) "You wouldn't be so foolish as to think that, would you?" or "How can I be sure you aren't going to get into that type of trouble?".
  5. Ask your questions and give your child plenty of time to respond.
  6. Avoid judging his/her response, notions or beliefs.  Notice your own tendency or desire to preach or teach and DON'T.  Keep asking open-ended questions so your child can keep sharing and talking.  This is your opportunity to find out what your child needs to know or understand--not your time to act on it.
  7. If the "discussion" goes awry, apologize for YOUR part in the conversation.  Explain that you just wanted to talk TOGETHER about what YOU had seen "in the news".  But, don't defend your position about the subject--it'll lead to an argument if your child disagrees.  Or it might even shut your child down and close a future window of opportunity for discussion.
  8. Be gentle on yourself.  Talking WITH kids is tough!  It takes practice and intention to automatically use "open-ended" questions.  It takes a true desire to find out what your kids think and belief and resist the immediate desire to correct their thinking.

Parenting requires patience, skill, knowledge--and experience.  Your children are out-there exposed to all sorts of ideas and behaviors.  Our job is to assist them to do what we did--learn from what we observe and experience.  Talking with your kids about issues "out-there" makes it easier to open a conversation about a subject, learn from it and change or confirm beliefs and ideas.  Luckily there is a lot of hot-topics in the news everyday we can use to start the dialogue.

Overview of Hollywood - Bollywood Current Events

The world's movie wealth is not Hollywood but Bollywood. Bollywood is the nickname for the Indian film production situated in Mumbai.

Indians are in love with movies, even though most films follow a similar format called collection of spices. Movies are three to four hours long (and include an interval), include dozens of songs and dances, top stars, the story between the songs of boy meets girl, lots of action, and always - a happy ending.

Fourteen million Indians go to the movies on a daily basis (about 1.4% of the population of 1 billion) and pay the comparable to the average Indian's day's wages (US $1-3) to see any of the over 800 films churned out by Bollywood each year. That's more than double the number of feature films produced in the Hollywood.

The public's curiosity in Hollywood actresses and other celebrities is not a recent trend. Magazines have provided reporting of Hollywood actresses for decades, chronicling their performances and contribution a glance into their lives. Actresses who starred in movies back when they were called "talkies" have all awestruck the public. Film buffs attracted in learning more about these Hollywood actresses can do more than just watch the films in which they starred: They can also learn about who they were outside of their characters by reading articles in magazine archives.

When these Hollywood actresses shot to fame, magazine articles often focused on their early lives, before they entered the public eye. In addition to offering biographies of Hollywood actresses and stars, these articles also discussed their performances and critiqued their films. Though many magazines offer admittance to their archives online, these archives may not go back far enough to cover the time of early Hollywood actresses.

Infrequently, some fans may come across old issues of periodicals like Film Spectator and Photoplay Magazine at garage or estate sales, but often they are at a loss for primary sources.

List Relationship Marketing - Build Rapport With Your List by Relating Current Events to Your Niche

You want your information to stand out among the sea of blog posts, articles, emails, and other communications your prospects will be exposed to on a regular basis. An excellent way is to relate a current event to your niche. There are many ways to do this, but you will want to choose events that are timely, that you can use to make a point regarding your topic, and that hold the interest of the person you are trying to connect with. This can all be done without compromising the integrity of your business.

You can find timely current events simply by keeping your eyes and ears open to what's happening around you. Whether you receive your information from the network news, magazines, newspapers, or any other source, there is always something happening that can turn into a media connection for your niche. For example, during the recent Olympic Games I wrote about the leadership skills and the similarities of being an athlete to those of an entrepreneur. It made for interesting reading and many of my readers commented on my post. This was a way to connect with people I had never heard from before.

Make a relevant point about the current event you are writing about. Even if it is a stretch, you can connect most events to your niche. Think about awards that are given for the arts and for science, a discovery that makes people think differently about the world around them, or a small achievement by someone not usually in the news. Once I wrote about a man who had jumped onto the subway tracks to save another man from being run over by the oncoming train. This small act of heroism saved a life and changed two lives forever. I related that to the events surrounding one of my mentors in his life and business. All of this makes us more real and human in the eyes of our prospects.

Even though our businesses are interesting and exciting to us, or should be, this may not be the case with someone on your list. By relating a current event and sharing a more personal story along with it, we are able to draw that person in to our world, even if it is only for a short time. When I think about how I came to start my online business and become an entrepreneur, it is the stories that made a difference to me. Imagine getting just one person to want to change their life, based on a story you shared that was based on a current event. When I was a classroom teacher that happened regularly; in my online business it is far too rare.

Banking Keeps Up With Current Events

The internet has changed the way we do things, the way we look at things and the way we handle our personal business. The public usually responds positively to anything that makes life easier, and when it comes to banking, maintaining your finances is definitely easier.

The fastest, most convenient way to access your bank account information is via online banking and it comes as little surprise that it has gained widespread acceptance for its ease, accessibility and security. From a home computer, users can log onto their bank account and complete a variety of transactions at any time of day, seven days a week.

For numerous reasons online banking has gained its reputation as the new and, for many, only way to bank. Firstly, it's convenient as account holders may access their information at anytime and from any computer with a basic internet connection. Also, users can save time avoiding frustrating bank queues and conduct their finances from the comfort of their own armchair at a time that suits them.

Most importantly, online banking has become increasingly secure and most of the initial apprehension surrounding this self-banking process has now dissolved into warm acceptance. High levels of security have increased privacy and protection of account information making a current account online a true winner for personal banking.

As a result of the explosive growth of online banking, users have become increasingly concerned with the implications of fraud and identity theft. This has become a hot topic in the media and people are now seeking assurance that online banking is safe. Banks have responded by developing and upgrading effective security features, creating peace of mind for customers and a wall of protection against identity theft.

A current account online [http://www.barclays.co.uk/current-accounts/] allows for greater control and personal awareness of your finances. The days of briefly scanning a monthly paper statement are gone, many users check their finances several times a week and nearly all access their accounts many times a month as it is an excellent way to pay bills or transfer funds. No third party is required to answer questions or alleviate confusion, users simply access their accounts whenever they need to and everything they need to know is onscreen in a matter of seconds.

Even for those who are no fan of computers or technology, online banking allows people the opportunity to complete all their business in one sitting. Options available include bill payment, balance enquiry, interest and charges information, loan applications and scheduled transfers. Many like to set aside some time do it all at once and online current accounts are very accommodating in this regard.

Convenience, practicality and accessibility are the principal benefits of a current account online and with continued security improvements being made by providers, an online current account has become the more secure way to handle and protect your personal finances.

Staying Connected to Current Events With Satellite Internet

Sometimes when you live further away from major cities and towns, it is easier to fall behind on what's happening in the world. While it's definitely one reason that people often move from the big city, having absolutely no news whatsoever is not the same as taking a bit of a media fast. No matter how you feel about the media, staying at least a little bit informed as to what is going on is an important part of life, regardless of your political affiliations.

For those rural internet users who have been depending on a dial-up connection to enjoy the world wide web, staying plugged in is a whole lot more difficult. After all, dial-up is made for a time before information was disseminated at an incredible speed online. This means that it is not ready to handle things like streaming video, constantly updating blogs, or even newsrings where there is more than just simple text. The only way that someone who is living far away from cable or broadband options to get a quicker version of the internet is by getting with satellite internet.

It could be said that satellite internet itself was developed as a response to the need to get information out as fast as possible. Some of the very first adopters of this technology were organizations who needed to foster communications with remote areas. Whether it was Doctors Without Borders working to connect their main offices in the States with field offices in far-flung African countries or cable news networks who needed to set up a live feed for reporting in remote regions of the world, satellite has definitely done more than its part to connect people in important times.

Now, it's possible for satellite to connect you to the outside world, too, at a much friendlier price than when the technology was reserved solely for large corporations and their personal needs. Satellite internet at a consumer level offers just as much bandwidth and just as fast a connection, but at a price befitting someone's personal home service. The speed means that anything from streaming video to listening to a news anchor's podcast is possible. And that, in turn, means that it is more possible for you to stay connected to the world.

It's not just the international news or the top political stories that will now be easier to access. If your local community newspaper has a website but not a delivery boy who feels like coming to your neck of the woods, you can stay in touch. Likewise, if you miss family living in another city, stay tuned into the events of your former home - or their current one - through satellite internet. And, as always, you have just as much access to lighthearted information, like gossip television, as well as the helpful benefits of weather websites that can actually load, since you're not on a slow dial-up connection.

If staying in the loop is the only thing that's been keeping you from relocating to a more remote part of the country, consider that your goal is now much more feasible, since satellite brings all of the world's news to you at a speed that makes it possible to enjoy.

Helping Your Child Cope During Difficult Current Events

Current world events can be unsettling. If your children watch the news, they might find that it's difficult to distinguish between what is happening elsewhere in the world or in their hometown. For these children, the stories that they see on the news can have a personal effect and can even be distressing to them.

As parents, we want our children to be safe and happy. With today's media coverage of current events, it is more likely that your children could be aware of violent acts occurring in other parts of the nation. If your children know of such events, it would be helpful to talk with them about what they've seen. Remember when talking to them to remain calm and reassuring. Acknowledge their feelings and stick to the facts. If your child is reacting negatively to any news coverage it is important to monitor and limit their TV viewing.

If your child continues to have worries regarding current events, please contact the staff at your child's school. Your child can receive support from the teacher, guidance counselor, school social worker or school psychologist, depending on the severity of the effects on your child. If the school determines that your child needs more help then they can provide, they might refer you to a clinician outside of the school system.

If you are do not know where to go for outside mental health services, ask for suggestions from either your school, primary care physician or your insurance carrier. If you do not have insurance, please check with your local Community Services Board. They work on a sliding scale, making receiving mental health services affordable for everyone.

Current Events For Teens - What Do Teens Care About?

Sometimes it may seem like all teenagers care about are clothes and music, but that may not be so. Many teenagers are deeply interested in the world around them as they get prepared to enter the real world. They are interested in current events for teens.

Teenagers who follow world events know that they will likely not receive Social Security like their grandparents did. Many teens may worry about this fact. Hopefully this reality will inspire them to save their money as soon as they start working and stay out of debt.

Even though most teenagers cannot vote, many are interested in politics. Many schools have clubs for Young Republicans and Young Democrats. Teenagers can help with campaigns by passing out literature, making phone calls, and putting up signs. Teens will want to read about politics, because it effects their future.

College costs and information related to college is important to teenagers as they will soon be choosing and attending a school. Current trends are showing that college tuition is going up at a high rate, and teens need to know more about financial aid and scholarships. Teenagers need to know information about deadlines for applying for aid and where to apply. This information is not always readily available to them.

Career trends should be included in current events for teens. Although most teenagers have some time to think before starting in the work force, most teens are at least contemplating what field they want to work in. They need to have an idea, so they know what courses to take in high school and college. College graduates need to be able to get a job and make decent money after graduation, in order to pay back their student loans.

Teenagers do care about music, movies, and television. This fact is undeniable. They want to stay on top of the hottest trends, see all the new shows and listen to all the hottest new music. Teenagers want to read about these topics, along with fashion, dating, and health information. Teenagers have special needs that are unique to their age group, and current events for teens must address this fact.

Teenagers like to know where to shop to get new fashions and where the "cool kids" are eating. They want to know all about the popular places to go to have fun, shop, and eat. Teens enjoy getting out of the house with their newfound freedom!

There may be some teenagers that only care about their tiny corner of the world, but most teens are much more thoughtful. They want to know about current events relating to politics, jobs, college, and their future. They realize that they do have a future, and they want to know where that future is going.

How Current Events Shape The World Of Bodybuilding

It's a scary world we live in. Terrorism, economic uncertainty, and globalization all promise to present us with a brand new world in the coming decades.

But what the heck does this have to do with bodybuilding?

A lot, actually. Watching the news and learning how to apply it to your own lives is a very valuable skill, which could significantly improve your quality of life.

Affects of oil prices on food

The price of a gallon of milk has gone up over a dollar in the last year. Supplement manufacturers are beginning to raise their prices, as the prices of raw materials they use to produce their goods are going up 25 to 50%. Should additional wars erupt in the middle east and the Persian Gulf find itself closed, we should be aware that the prices of food and water here in America will rise significantly, as oil prices will rise, leading to higher gas costs. This affects food prices because a lot of gasoline is used to deliver food to grocery stores.

Affects of food scares

Every time there is a 'mad cow' disease scare, beef production halts, and that daily steak you enjoy so much costs more to get to your dinner plate. Every time another 'avian bird flu' headline hits our screen, the poultry industry is forced to make adjustments, which are reflected in the price of chicken at the supermarket. The same is true with fruits and vegetables. Remember the scare with the tainted water causing bad produce resulting in several deaths? A smart bodybuilder will watch the news and make purchases accordingly. Not only avoiding foods which could potentially harmful - but by quickly buying goods which might become scarce/more costly when a market takes a hit.

Whey as a survival food

Should things (God forbid!) ever get bad in our country, they whey in your cupboards will be worth its weight in gold. Aside from its long expiration dates, whey protein provides high protein, good carbs, and essential vitamins and minerals. Used sparingly, a tub could last a family for weeks should no other food source be available. A few hundred dollars' invested in whey protein for a rainy day might be very wise investment.

Should natural (or manmade) disaster ever befall our nations or world, the strong always survive. As do the prepared. So each night as you catch the news, spend just a moment considering how the things happening on the global and national level could very possibly affect your bodybuilding goals. Being strong AND prepared is a very wise idea as we all enter the unknown world that is the future.

Tips to Aid an Event Planner - Plan Current Events

The urgency involved in planning current events can make the exercise taxing physically and emotionally. An event planner is under much pressure especially when trying to meet a deadline. By preparing well in advance, event planners can avoid the last minute rush that will add undo pressure. Early preparations include identifying and reserving the events venue, applying for a permit if the law requires one to do so, evaluating the budget and getting entertainment, food and drink that will be sufficient and within the budget.

To make the work easier, the event planner must define the event. Will it be a formal or informal affair? Will it need an outdoor or indoor venue? Next, knowing when the event will take place will help the planner determine when to start scouting for a suitable location and then making reservations.

By knowing why the event is happening, the planner can focus on giving it a suitable theme. Themes for sporting events are very different from the themes a planner would use for weddings. By describing why the event is happening, the planner is also able to focus more on the details that will highlight the purpose of the event.

A current events planner needs to be cautious about spreading the budget evenly in all the areas that need to be paid for. Usually, big corporate companies have bigger budgets than a small business or a personally sponsored affair. The event planner should know exactly how much money they have to work with, and then prioritize on what needs to receive which budget amount.

Usually, higher priority is given to the things that hold the most meaning. In a wedding for example, the venue is of much importance to the couple, so the appearance and convenience of the venue is important. On the other hand, only the pitch and the ability of the venue to accommodate a huge audience are considered for sporting events.

Seeing that entertainment is such a vital part in current events, the planner should decide whether to provide recorded music or live music for entertainment. Alternatively, he can opt for performing arts acts. Drink and food are equally important and the planner must ensure that everything is in order by hiring a dependable staff. A clear understanding of the guest list, what the event is for, and the available budget are things that even the most seasoned event planners need to know to avoid getting bogged down in the planning details.

Business Small Talk - How to Make Conversation at a Business Event

Making small talk with strangers at a business event - does the idea fill you with dread? It isn't easy making small talk with people you don't know. If you've ever ended up with a frozen smile on your face while you frantically think of a topic to discuss, here are some tips to make it easier.

1. Prepare conversation topics ahead of time. Chances are, before heading out to a business or social event, you think about what you will wear, how you will get to the event, and even where you will park. How often do you plan what you will say once you get there?

Before the event, plan three or four conversation topics. This will save you from a frantic search for a new topic when the conversation grinds to a halt.

At a business event, know what's happening in your industry. Read professional journals and newsletters in your field to keep up to date.

Be up on current events. Read the local and national newspapers. Skim the headlines and top stories for topics of interest. Watch the local and national news so you won't to be in the dark about recent developments. Then plan at least one topic from your industry, and one general interest topic that you can discuss.

2. Use an opening line to start the conversation. Don't worry, you don't need a brilliant opener. In fact, it can stop the conversation because when you say something weird or unexpected, people may be momentarily taken aback if they aren't sure how to respond.

Stick to simple topics like the weather or why you are at the event. That's why we talk about the weather - it's something everyone can talk about!

A compliment is always a great opener. Comment on the person's unusual tie or necklace, or on the wonderful hors d'oeuvres. Just make sure your compliment is sincere, and not too personal.

3. Get the conversation rolling. The best way to do this is to begin with your shared experience, such as the event you are attending. Ask about the person's relationship to the event or group. Ask their opinion on the speaker, or how they know the host. Or talk about the venue or city you are visiting.
Any of these questions give you an instant connection because you've had the same experience.

Remember that at business events, people want to meet new people. Be friendly, use your opening line, and talk about the event. You're sure to get the conversation moving forward.

10 Beer Budget Event Marketing Tips

Are you planning an event or participating in a trade show any time soon? If so, consider the following 10 low-cost marketing tactics before mailing your payment.

Event Marketing Tactic #1 -- Is the purchase decision-maker attending the event? Are you certain? Let's say you sell gifts that help increase employee moral and you're considering exhibiting at the National Association of Human Resources annual conference. Is your decision-maker attending? Who attends this event -- HR directors, managers or VPs? Perhaps all, or a small percentage of all three attend. If your decision-maker is a human resources director, then you'll want to make sure the event management company can provide you statistics supporting what percentage of the participants have director-level titles. You need to drill down to your target audience. It's not good enough to say that it's a human resources related event; rather, is the job title you're targeting attending? And if so, what percentage of the attendees hold this title? I recommend at least 50-60% before spending any money.

Event Marketing Tactic #2 -- What value-added benefits is the venue [trade show organizer] making available to your business? Will they allow you access to the attendee mailing list so you can implement a premailing promoting your one-day trade show special, as well as the location of your booth? Well organized events, at minimum, provide a list of attendees after the event so exhibitors can follow up. More organized events provide participant contact information BEFORE the event as well as after. Other value-added benefits to inquire about include: being included in participant email distributions promoting the event, as well as an advertisement in the event show guide.

Event Marketing Tactic #3 -- Target your event qualifying questions around the "who?," instead of the "how many?."

Event Marketing Tactic #4 -- Giveaways should be relevant to your business. Don't give something away for free just for the heck of it. Who cares if you collect 10,000 names because you ran a really cool promotion giving away a free 48" TV. If you're a personal chef, what does a TV have to do with your business? Nothing! [Unless you're Emeril.] Therefore, you've just collected 10,000 NON-qualified leads. Instead, as a personal chef you could try, "Sign up to receive our special report, "How to Live Like the Rich; Tips to Hire an Affordable Personal Chef." One can assume the majority of business cards deposited in your fish bowl have an interest in personal chefs.

Event Marketing Tactic #5 -- Location, location, location. If prospects can't see you, then you're wasting your time. Don't be fooled into purchasing a cheap booth at a last-minute special, such as "One booth remaining at 50% off." Chances are no one will be visiting you, since your booth will be tucked away hidden from all eyes. The most ideal locations are found at the entryway to the event and near the pathway to the food stations and restrooms. Corner booths between major walk-throughs are ideal.

Event Marketing Tactic #6 -- Some of your most qualified event leads come from networking with other exhibitors. Therefore, secure the exhibitors' list several days before your event. At minimum, you want to know what competitors will be there so you can mystery shop. What's more, you want a plan outlining what exhibitors you intend to approach to either pitch your services, or secure an informal partnership. Prepare your plan and your sales-spin before the big day!

Event Marketing Tactic #7 -- Would you like to participate in more events but don't have the budget? Try approaching complementary exhibitors and ask if they'd be interested in sharing booth space with you. Split the costs. Moreover, you can cover for each other when you need a break. Or, look around for hidden advertising money. If you're a distributor, perhaps you've accrued MDF funds [Market Development Funds] a.k.a. advertising coop money, unbeknownst to you. Many companies will allow resellers to spend MDF funds to pay for event booth fees.

Event Marketing Tactic #8 -- Save yourself a lot of time and only approach event passersby who make eye contact. People who don't look at you or your booth are not looking for a reason. Remember, you can only speak to so many people at an event, therefore utilize your precious time wisely. Target those who make eye contact.

Event Marketing Tactic #9 -- Make sure you're allowed to display signs, posters, banners, etc. Treat your signs as miniature billboards. No more than six words and make sure it can be read from at least 10' away.

Event Marketing Tactic #10 -- Don't pay full price. Remember, almost everything in life is negotiable, including booth fees. Always ask for a price reduction; you'll be pleasantly surprised. Printed advertising and/or booth fees are just a starting point for negotiations.

P.S.....Stand up, don't chew gum and try not to talk too much to the other people working your booth. The latter makes you appear unapproachable. Finally, your attire should be slightly better than what you believe attendees will be wearing. For example, if you're attending an event whereby most of the attendees are engineers, don't wear a three-piece suit!

The Importance of Watching Current Events on Your Cable TV

There are lots of people now who are always updated with the latest news today. In other words, they are always watching current events in their TV set. How important is it for us to watch current events all the time? What is it for us if we're going to watch it for good? First of all, news and current events are giving you the latest updates and happenings around the world. Not only that, you will also be updated on the latest updates within your area through the presence of local news. Cable TV is what we need, in order to watch news anytime.

Why is it that we need cable TV to watch news anytime? Is it better than sticking to an antenna TV? Before we answer that question, let's define and compare on what antenna and cable TV is all about. An antenna TV is the original model of television that uses it's antenna to transmit signals to a local TV station. As a result, it can only give them a few local channels to watch. Most of them are variety types, which includes news programs. Overall, it will only give them less entertainment like no other, especially news programs.

But if you subscribed with a local cable television provider, you will enjoy lots of benefits with them. You know why? Based on your packages subscribed to your provider, it can give you a minimum of fifty channels, and it can be upgraded for up to two hundred channels to watch. As a result, you will enjoy a lot of channels to watch, especially current events. Speaking of current events, a cable television provider will include two of the most popular news channels ever. The most popular news channels that we're talking about are CNN and Fox News.

Both of them were having lots of professional newscasters around the world, especially reporters. They we're giving us high quality updates anytime we want and they're running it for a long time. They will provide us the latest news and current events in a non-stop fashion. It means that you can watch them anytime you want in twenty-four hours daily. These news channels will give you the scoops in different aspects and niches. They are being categorized as variety news channels, because they talked about a lot of subjects. Unlike the others, they can only talk about any subject that is related to their niche.

CNN and Fox News can't be found in your antenna TV, but instead it will be on cable TV. For those of you who are interested to claim at least one of them, you need to start subscribing with your local cable television provider. Sometimes, we notice that cable TV is not the only thing we're going to avail. Most of them are now including both broadband internet and digital phone to a package, which will let you enjoy more by means of subscribing. This is how important for us to be updated with the latest in current events, and cable TV provides it for us.

Current Events and Bible Prophecy - The Coming War With Iran

In western movies of a previous generation, a cowboy would say to his friend, "Don't look now, but we are surrounded!"

So it seems with many of the signs that Christ gave for the end of the world in Matthew 24 where He encouraged the study and understanding of the book of Daniel. Christ's reference to a desolating power is first found in Daniel 8 where Gabriel tells Daniel that his vision (chazon) is "at the time of the end." Daniel 8:17.

The "time of the end" offers a fresh qualification that historians have overlooked. For centuries they have said that Alexander the Great fulfilled this prophecy in his victory over the Medes and Persians in the Battle of Arbela, 331 BC. Let's take another look.

  1. In the vision, Daniel was by the River Ulai. Reference librarians say the modern name is the Karun River that empties into the Tigris and Euphrates confluence by Basra, Kuwait. This is where U.S troops deployed in 2003. Alexander's Battle of Abela was nearly 1000 miles away, Daniel saw our time, not Alexander's time.
  2. The "goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth." This is not about Alexander. It fits the U.S. coalition of forces that came from Australia, Asia, N. America, S. America and Europe.
  3. The goat "touched not the ground." Alexander did not have a choice of planes.
  4. Of the two horns, "the higher [greater] horn came up last," Daniel 8:3.
  5. Daniel "saw the ram pushing westward and northward and southward." Daniel 8:4. Russia to the north, Africa to the south, and Europe/U.S. have all felt the pushiness of militant Islam. This is more true of Iran than for Persia in Alexander's time.
What's the point? Alexander was a type or application of the prophecy that shows similarity to the end-time application. History is a lesson and if we are familiar with Scripture, we can see the application for our time. "What is to come has been already, and God summons each event back in its turn." Ecclesiastes 3:15.

The Medes and Persians of Alexander's time are now Iraq and Iran. This has serious implications, and the Bible deserves an honest look. Daniel was told, "Seal the book, even to the time of the end," Daniel 12:4. Daniel was not told to just seal chapter 8. The whole book of Daniel may have end-time meaning that is not seen until the time of the end (war with Iraq and Iran). We should study Daniel afresh, looking for meaning that is not merely historical, like Alexander's victory; we need to see how it is applying in our time.

Corporate Event Economics - Gear Up For Business Events in a Down Market

To event or not to event in a down market, that is the question on the minds of many corporate executives. Is it better to invest $500,000 in a meeting that could generate $2M in sales or ditch it in a fit of cautionary economizing? Corporate event planners are finding that small and large businesses alike are canceling or postponing events in reaction to a downturn in the economy. Actions speak louder than words and in a tough economy, a canceled event is the perceptual equivalent of a hole in a sinking ship.

Meetings, conferences, seminars and events are a critical part of a business communication strategy. Events say, "We are doing business, and we are confident in our business position." When reviewing your marketing budget, look at events as investments, not expenditures. Don't give events the boot, tighten your belt and give them the squeeze. Don't bail on your events; plan them smarter.

How can you make your events smarter? First, plan them strategically. Events are tools. They are planned in response to a need for face-to-face communication. Why are you having the event? What do you expect from the event? Who is coming to the event? Research these factors extensively. Then use the data to determine how to deliver the richest amount of content to the targeted audience in the shortest amount of time.

Next, plan them professionally. Does your staff have the time, skills and resources needed to effectively plan implement and staff an event, while continuing to do their own jobs? Event planners do. They manage thousands of logistical details and provide resources for professional contract negotiation, content development, speakers and specialized vendors. In addition, event planners know the elements that are essential to a successful event. We tell our clients that the success of their conference will be based on the content, not on the chicken.

Here are some belt-tighteners for anyone planning an event, meeting or conference:

  1. Do your research first. The greatest cost saver for any event is knowledge.

  2. Hire professionals. Hotel, entertainment, food/beverage and travel/transportation contracts are complex, high-ticket items. Mistakes can be costly. The fee for an event planner or other professional to negotiate on your behalf is cost effective. Professionals have the resources and often have established relationships with vendors they know and trust. They are familiar with standard hotel, venue, and food and beverage contracts and can help you negotiate.

  3. Hire professional speakers. Professional speakers or trainers make sure the message of the event is delivered. If your company doesn't have a great speaker to deliver meeting content, hire one. If your material is industry specific, hire a presentation expert.

  4. Don't be afraid to reveal your budget. Create a realistic budget for your event. Event professionals and vendors expect to work within a budget.

  5. Tighten up presentations and shorten the length of the conference. If your four-day conference for 100 people costs an average of $450/day/person for hotel room, meeting space and materials, food and beverage and audio/visual equipment, you could save up to $45,000 simply by eliminating one day.

  6. Plan ahead. Time is a valuable cost cutter. You can shop for a less expensive printer; avoid rush charges for goods and services, and save money by booking travel arrangements in advance. A Silicon Valley high tech company spent $12,000 in copy charges at the conference site because presentations were not completed by the deadlines.

  7. Evaluate costs before canceling current events. Hotel and catering contracts have strict cancellation policies. Canceling an event three to six months out can cost as much as it would to actually have the event. Two years ago, a client wanted to pull the plug on a high-tech partners conference we had spent months planning. With just 45 days until the event, it would have cost $80,000 to cancel it and $90,000 to have it. We convinced him to go ahead with it, and he signed a lucrative contract at the conference.

  8. Understand your negotiating power. Understand your negotiating power before you sign any contracts. Flexibility of dates, addition of sleeping rooms, food and beverage commitments and use of other hotel services bring to a venue, the greater the negotiating power you have. Flex your negotiating power by combining other event efforts within the company.

  9. Reduce "no-shows" and watch guarantees. Hotels routinely charge for rooms not used and not cancelled, and they have a prorated charge for potential business lost on food and beverage. Try telemarketing and e-marketing to insure that attendees keep your event in mind and to minimize "no-shows". Some "no-shows" are inevitable, so pay attention to meal guarantees, hotel room counts, and transportation needs when negotiating contracts.

  10. Consider back-end expenses. Awkward signage, demo equipment, heavy meeting materials and cumbersome guest gifts all have to be shipped home. These costs can add up.

To event or not to event? The answer is "To event". In a world of e-mail and e-commerce, events are the real deal. They are an experience. They can stimulate confidence, promote networking, increase sales and encourage problem solving in a face-to-face format. So pull it in a notch or kick it down a peg but don't cancel your event. Events say, "We are here to stay.

Who's Your Target Market in Speaking? How to Use Current Events to Your Advantage

Have you ever attended a seminar expecting that it will either eliminate or reduce doubt, confusion, ignorance or fear? Most everything taught in seminars is designed to do one or more of those things. If you're like most of us, you've returned more than once from an event without the solutions you sought.

How does it feel when the speaker's material has no relevance to your concerns? How does it feel when the speaker is unable to make the material relevant to current events that have derailed you? For me, if the lecture, sermon or presentation has no relevance to the challenges (personal or professional) I experience, the speaker hasn't done his/her job.

I count on the meeting planner and event organizers to attract speakers who can solve problems relevant to the organization. It's your job as the speaker to match your expertise with organizations that can benefit from your expertise.

In selecting your target market, determine exactly how your talent, skill and expertise is relevant to the specific needs of each audience to whom you would have the privilege of speaking. As an expert who speaks, you're in the privileged position of influencing the lives, practices and attitudes of others.

Most of us read the newspaper and are a little more informed of conflict, corruption and crime, less secure and a little more disturbed by man's inhumanity to man. We don't actually do much with that information, except possibly become a little more suspicious of the behavior of others.

Convert the time you spend reading newspapers and magazines into a more productive practice. When you read current events in newspapers and magazines or on the Internet, begin to analyze whether or not the subject of the article - a trend, an industry in crisis, the restructuring of an organization, a merger or acquisition, a cultural concern - is one from which your expertise can benefit.

For instance, when organizations downsize or merge, imagine what issues the leaders are facing with employees and managers. There could be anger, fear, insecurity or a rise in stress-related illnesses. All of these reactions cost the organization money in the long and short run.

Put yourself in the position of the people in the story. How could your expertise help them? Can you create order where there is little to none? Can you inform them of some historical significance that can put things in perspective to redirect negative behavior to a more proactive and productive pattern? Can you teach coping mechanisms such as anger management or communication skills or techniques which improve performance and lower health costs for companies?

Will telling your personal experience, your rags to riches story or your philosophy move them past limited thinking?

How can your expertise improve production and decrease turnover?

It's a fun exercise to pick up a copy of the corporate meeting planners directory or a national association directory and scroll down the list. Ask yourself if and how each organization can benefit from your presentation.

You may decide that your target market is made up of independent contractors, entrepreneurs and commissioned sales people. You may find your target market is direct selling companies, multi level marketing companies, insurance and real estate companies.

You may be fortunate enough that your expertise satisfies management, sales and administrative audiences. Where can you find organizations which represent the interests of each of those groups?

Identifying your target markets will direct how you write your sales copy and what you put in your promotional package. The more precise you are in targeting your market and defining your niche, the easier it will be for you to secure engagements and properly direct those who represent you.

Israel and Current Events

The State of Israel and Current Events

I would like to start this article by citing some scriptures. You will notice that at the end of each paragraph, the references given. Those of you who are familiar with literature will realize that a series of three dots means that words or verses have been omitted from the citation.

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee...And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it. And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other...(Deuteronomy 28:15, 63, 64)

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks... 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined...And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate (Daniel 9:25, 27).

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate (Matthew 28:37, 38).

Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet (Matthew 21:43-46).

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened (Matthew 24:16-22).

In recent weeks we have seen the escalation of serious trouble between Israel and her neighbors in the Middle East. Fifteen years ago, on radio programs throughout the world, I offered the strong opinion that if the world lasted 20 more years Israel would be displaced from its so-called Homeland in the Middle East. This is based on the Scriptures cited from the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy. The Bible teaches us, rather plainly it seems to me, that the failure of Abraham's natural children to accept their King and His Kingdom would result in the Old Testament of the flesh and of the Law being voided.

When Jesus came into this world as the Incarnate God, His first assignment was to confirm the covenant with natural Israel and to attempt to reform them by getting them to understand and obey the spirit of the Law, to accept it as the constitution of the Kingdom, and to accept Him as their King. But that did not happen. Israel rejected their King, told Pilate the Roman governor that He was not their King and that they did not want Him or His kingdom, and called upon the Romans to crucify Him. This was the Abomination spoken of in Daniel 9:24-27 that would bring about the desolation of the Nation. As a result of that abomination, the Kingdom was taken from them and given to the Church, and their house was left unto them desolate.

At that point, and in keeping with Matthew 24:16-22, incredible persecution would come upon the nation of Israel. The Matthew 23 passage indicates that while the individual Israelite may come back to God by recognizing Christ as the Messiah and accepting Him in his heart, the era of the nation and the Old Testament Kingdom is gone forever. Those who believe that it will come back have their heads buried in the desert sands of the Middle East; and are relying for validation on the dead letter of the Law Covenant that means nothing to God or the Church anymore. As Daniel 9:.27 says, the judgment that has been determined by God upon the nation of Israel shall be poured upon those desolate people until the Consummation of the Ages, which is, of course the end of the world.

Many Materialistic Theologians, subscribing to the humanistic heresy of Christian Zionism, believe that God promised some of Adams and natural born children eternal life because of their nationality and will bring them back before time runs out. This view is not only the result of poor exegesis but is an affront to historic orthodox Christianity which holds clearly that no child of Adam has been promised, or will ever be given eternal life on the account of his natural birth or nationality. In truth, the curse of Deuteronomy 28:63, Daniel 9:27, Matthew 28: 37-38, Matthew 21:43-46, and Matthew 24:16-22 has come upon this desolate House of Israel. Those who look for God to come to the rescue of Israel to protect them from the Arab World look in vain for something that is not going to happen.

In the past the United States, because of the militant British Israelism and Christian Zionism that has pervaded our national thinking since our inception, has used its military might, or in any case the threat of it, to defend Israel. Now that is all getting ready to change. Jesse Jackson has already let the cat out of the bag. One of President Obama's long-time friends was an adviser to Yasser Arafat and the PLO. The foreign policy of the new president will show no favoritism to Israel over the Palestinians. Once that new foreign-policy doctrine becomes known Iran, Syria, Hamas, Hezbolah, and other strongly anti-Israeli elements will come against the nation of Israel. The only reason Israel still occupies the land since 1948 is because of the clear threat of the military intervention and might of the United States.

When that is no longer the case, all of the energies of the Arab nations plus Iran (which is not an Arab nation) will be brought to play against Israel. This is not 1968. Israel will not be fighting the Egyptians with old, outdated, broken down WWII tanks, armaments, and artillery. Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, and Egypt and all possess the modern technology and war machinery of Russia, France, Japan, and China. Some of them have intermediate range ballistic missiles which can reach any city or any point in Israel. Some of them have F-15 and F-16 fighter jets, AWACS and other sophisticated radar equipment. Without the support, or in any case the threat of support, of the military might of the United States Israel will not stand a chance of survival. The Abab world can sit in their own territory and blow Israel apart with missels armed with significant war heads if they are not afraid of US retaliation. If Israel attacks the broader Arab world to try to take out the missels, the fight will be on. The Israeli invasion of Lebanon to try to deal with the threat of Hezbolah is a good indicaiton of how that will go. It was a medium war effort with modest success at best. Without US help it is foolish to suppose that Israel can invade the entire Arab world and be victorious.

The curse by God of Deuteronomy 28:63 is once again being brought down on Israel, as indeed it has time and time again over the last two millennia. Because I know godly men who are Christian Zionists and because I wish to be charitable and discreet, I am stopping short of making an all-out prophecy that Israel will be history in the next five years. Even so, I must tell you that as a bona fide and ordained Prophet of the Lord, that is strongly my expectation. In any case, whether my expectations are right or wrong, the Word of God's stands sure. God destroyed Egypt, Babylon, Assyria, Syria, the Medes, the Philistines, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Edomites, and many other nations in order to protect His chosen Nation.

Hundreds of times in the Old Testament God warned the nation of Israel (and the division into the Northern and the Southern Kingdom does not change the prophecy) that if they rejected Him then He would divorce them and bring judgment upon. Now in the end of the age the world is about to see this vengeance of God against those who rejected His love in favor and crucified His Son, the Lord of Glory. The nation of Israel is not still the chosen people of God and they will not survive mortality. The only eternal element in our present experience is the Kingdom of God that is in this world but not of it. It is time, my dear Brothers and Sisters, to get your eyes open and your mind straightened out. Israel has no future in the program of God. Those who teach otherwise are guilty of being taken in by the grand deception.

How to Learn the Current Events?

Competition is everywhere and students have to keep themselves abreast with the latest events. It is difficult for students to excel in academics, extra-curricular and also be in tune with the latest events. Here's a simple way to keep oneself abreast of the current events, easily:

1. Recognize the news which is important: Media is a place, where one can find many information, some may be useful, while the rest may not be. Choosing and segregating what is important is the first step.

2. Discuss the events with your friends and family: It is easy to gather information by discussing with people around us. Also, this is a much simpler method to help you remember the events.

3. Watch news: Watching news gives you an opportunity to be in tune with the latest events, happening around the globe. You need to segregate the new that is useful to you, from the ones which just happens. For example: an earthquake in japan is important, but a tree fall on a car is unimportant.

4. Read the newspaper: Reading the newspaper, will not only give you information about the various events, but also help you in expanding your knowledge of words. Updating your vocabulary always helps.

5. Seek help from people: From assignments to be completed on time to homework and exams to be attended to, students find it difficult to allocate time to know the latest events. You can therefore ask your parents/friends to help you keep up-to-date of the events.

6. Check your knowledge: It is also important that you check if you actually retain the information which you see or read. Take up tests which involve questions on current events to check your knowledge.

7. Read books: There are books available in the market, which highlights the latest events in the various fields (stock market, sports, politics etc).

8. Surf the web: Internet has a wealth of knowledge which one can use to their advantage. Have a list of keywords on which you would like to research on and you will be able to find information.

Being knowledgeable about the current events is a part of personal growth for every individual. People tend to appreciate when one is knowledgeable. Many competitive exams challenge a person's knowledge about the current events, therefore, it is important for a student to know about the happenings and also be able to write and talk about it.

American Current Events - The Judgment of God Upon America Foretold in a Parable

To what should we liken this generation? To what shall we compare it to? America of late is like Nabal of old who had crops and herds that God blessed so that he was very prosperous. He was, however, an arrogant fool who neither thanked or honored God for His blessing, nor did he honor David who, with his four hundred men, camped near Nabal's estate guarding it from thieves and raiders.

After harvest, David sent messengers to suggest a payment be given for their services. Nabal was drunk and foolishly laughed at the request. Later, upon hearing this, David became incensed. He and his soldiers lighting upon their mounts vowed that not a male person belonging to Nabal would live to see another day. Nabal had a wise and beautiful wife named Abigail who saw what was coming down. Knowing the reputation of David, she moved with fear and quickly prepared much provision in carts and on donkey's backs and met David on the way. Bowing humbly, she confessed her husband's sin and folly, pleading for the lives of all the men in her husband's estate. David moved by her beauty, wisdom, faith and humility, received her gifts and reproof. He turned and went his way thanking God for her. Nabal is America, prosperous but arrogant and foolish. Abigail is the Church, clothed in beauty, wisdom, and faith, who, knowing the character of God, moves with fear to intercede for a foolish generation. David represents God who receives the intercession of the Church and spares Nabal (America). Those who know to pray, had better do it! By the way, God Himself struck Nabal, and he died about ten days later. David took the lovely Abigail as his wife. America, do you think God cannot also strike you a death blow? Let us turn to God from: divorce, adultery, teen sex (fornication), pornography, unfair taxation, abortion, the self will of evolution ism, feminism expressed in numerous ways, lewd and violent television and movies. All of which total up to the rejection of His Son from Heaven.

Of this generation, it is true what Cotton Mather, a puritan preacher, said of his generation Religion begat prosperity, and the daughter devoured the mother. America, do you not understand that it was God who birthed you? It was the Almighty that brought forth understanding and conviction so that our national fathers established a government allowing for civil liberties greater than any other country in all of history? Do we not understand that it was He who gave us this portion of the North American continent with its rich resources and beauty? It was He who provided the strength, cunning and wisdom to bring forth prosperity. Do we not understand that it was He who allowed the great and terrible Civil War to purge us of our arrogance and oppression over those who were held in slavery? They which we held in dishonor, in murder, having stolen their dignity and the wealth of their labor. Why did He do these things? That we might be a nation filled with His light, a beacon to the other nations of the world, testifying to the majesty of His wisdom, protection, and provisions, the which, He has bestowed upon us by His grace. We have become a people steeped in our arrogance, self-willed, and rebellious. A people who throw off the restraint of God on every hand, a people who revel in darkness and think we should be both blessed and honored because of it. Such is our extreme confusion. We would do well to follow after the scriptural admonition. (James 4:6-10) God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble. Submit yourselves, therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn and weep. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. Let us turn from our sin unto God that we might again be filled with His vision for us as individuals and as a people.

A Watchman,

Consider: I Sam. 25:1-14, I Ti. 2:1-4, Jn. 5:34

Article Writing Tips - How To Write An Interesting Current Events Article

An article written on current events is generally considered to be a news article and it contains information about a certain current event that is generally considered important to most of the population. Someone who writes these kinds of articles will usually use the form of writing that is called the "inverted pyramid". This is where the most important issues of the story come first at the top of the pyramid and then everything else gets prioritized from the top down.

If you have decided to write a news story you will first of course need to decide upon what the topic will be and what kind of information that you are going to need in order to write about the topic. You will need to research your top by getting information from credible sources. Some of those sources could be the library, periodicals or even published studies on the topic you are interested in. You can tell if a source is credible by their credentials and where and how they go their own information. The reason for having a source is to try and persuade people on a certain viewpoint with an objective source.

You will also need to try and look at your topic with different viewpoints and then gather up all of the information from those viewpoints. You will need to include both the pros and the cons when you are gathering your information. You should also make sure that you have all of the facts correct. It's not a good idea for you to assume that the information you have gathered is true and accurate. It's up to you as the writer to make sure that it is reliable.

You also might want to interview people that might have some relevance to your topic or event that you want to write about. Make sure that these people are well versed in the topic and that you can verify that they truly have the experience or the knowledge to give you the information that you are looking for. Make sure that you interview people that are on both sides of the topic or story.

Here are a few questions you need to ask yourself when you are trying to compile your story:

  1. Who did this happen to?
  2. What actually happened?
  3. Where did this happen?
  4. When exactly did it happen?
  5. Why did something like this happen?
  6. How did it actually happen?

It's probably a good idea to actually write out your answers and don't just answer them in your head. This way you can look back upon your answers when you are trying to write your news story. The answers will also help you check and see if you've included everything that's needed.

Once you have done all of this you can start writing your article. Remember, you need to put the most important fact about the story in the beginning or in your opening sentence. Once you have done that you can then go down the pyramid and take the second most important fact until you get to the bottom of your pyramid. The reason by the way for using this inverse pyramid is just in case if there is someone that is going to edit your work happens to cut some of the article in order to fit their publication, they more than likely are not going to cut out the beginning of a story.

When you are writing your story make sure that you use very clear words and that you have active language. You also should not show that you have a particular opinion on the topic either, the reader must be able to read the story without feeling the story is one sided. When you are done with the story make sure to go over the six questions to see if you answered all of them. If so, check grammar and spelling and then send in your article.

Health Current Events - The Antibiotic Resiliency of Cranberries

Cranberries have long been credited for the numerous therapeutic effects it carries that are known to benefit human health. This tart cousin of the blueberry family has been highly valued for its remarkable ability in the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infection or UTI. It also offers health benefits in;

  • the promotion of oral and gastrointestinal health
  • improvement of the good HDL cholesterol in the body
  • lowering the level of LDL cholesterol
  • kidney stone prevention
  • providing a generous aid for recovering stroke patient
  • and in the prevention of cancer

The discovery of its pro health benefits became the center for many discussions. Today, the therapeutic effect of cranberries is once again taking center stage on health current events as it adds yet again another health benefit to its long list.

You better eat more of your cranberries after your every meal, especially when you're sick, because in a study conducted in Worcester Polytechnic Institute, it was discovered that cranberries also contain a significant amount of antibiotic property. In fact, its natural antibiotic property is so raw and intense it was able to successfully alter the deadly E.coli bacteria.

E.coli is a deadly class of bacteria that is known to cause several common illnesses such as tooth decay and infection. It is also known to cause the following life threatening conditions which include:

  • Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. A condition that destroys the red blood cells of the body. Most prevalent in children under five years old.
  • Central Nervous System Impairment (e.g., seizure, coma,)
  • Bloody Diarrhea. This often results to bloody vomiting and nausea, severe cramping in the abdominal area, watery diarrhea, and inflammation.

The efficiency of cranberries in fighting and ridding off bacteria lies in its tannin component where its antibiotic property resides. Its discovery became so promising, many researchers are hopeful that the cranberry can be used by many sick patients world wide as an effective natural antibiotic. health current events accepted this breaking news with bigger hopes. With viruses becoming more and more resilient everyday, they are hoping that the discovery of cranberry in fighting deadly microbes could offer the biggest key in medical treatment.

Information Technology - Current Events in India

In a few brief decades of human history, information technology has permeated every corner of the world and every facet of the human experience. Nowhere is this phenomenon more marked than in India. India's high availability of technically trained workers, who are also multilingual, make it extremely competitive on the world economic stage. Indian Institutes of Technology are recognized for their excellence on an international scale. The Information Technology sector in India is mostly taken up by software and and services like, system integration, application development and maintenance or CADM, consulting, software testing, and internet services. Companies like Wal-Mart, Intel, Cisco, Oracle and Dell are continuing to look to India's Information Technology organizations to provide technology services.

Recent economic downturns have affected India, not unlike other parts of the globe. However, recent events make an early recovery in India's information technology companies, promising. India's largest exporter of computer software, Tata Consultancy Services, Ltd. reports a 29% increase in second quarter 2009 profits. While the profits are attributed to both new orders and cost control decisions, it is not the only firm to report results that were better than anticipated. Infosys, as well is reporting an upswing. Overall, third quarter results are up around 16 billion rupees, as compared to last year's 13 billion during the same time period. TCS plans to add 8000 employees to its rolls to meet the anticipated increased demands in the coming year. In other developments, India's Polaris Software Lab Ltd. has agreed to purchase Laser Soft Infosystems Ltd. Laser Soft provides information technology services in the banking industry. The purchase, for approximately 520 million rupees will add 600 people to Polaris' 9,000 and 40 financial institutions to Polaris' holdings. The banking technology market is predicted to experience continued near-term growth. Payment processing and other banking infrastructure and transaction systems are anticipated to lead the momentum as worldwide economic recovery continues to unfold.

Shifting technology support and consultancy services to India has proven to be a significant source of cost control for many of the world's technology companies. Mergers and acquisitions by organizations such as NASDAQ listed Cognizant with UBS India Service Centre put the world on notice that information technology resources in India are desirable assets to acquire. One such jewel in India's crown, Proteans has recently been named to Software Magazine's Software 500 list. Inclusion on this list puts Proteans on a preferred list of business partners for the world's large corporations.

Although India has experienced challenges to its status as a premier locale for outsourcing this type of work from China, The Philippines and Eastern Europe, India's superior training in, not only technology, but languages is anticipated to keep it out front of its competition. Growth in the telecommunications industry will also fuel future growth in India. The ability to distribute telecommunications capability to outlying areas of the country allows for these areas to become resources for workforce talent. Nearly no information technology advancement that has occurred in the world over the last few decades without India's involvement or influence. The future seems to predict ongoing success.

The Current Affairs of the Present Period Will Repeat - It is the Nature of Things

Whether we are facing a long drawn out election process or a recession, some things never change. As we watch the news events of current affairs unfold we often get caught up in the moment and yet something inside us tells us, "oh, we have been through this before!" And so goes the saying; "Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it!"

Thus, the sound and fury of current affairs and news events once again repeats in an endless cycle. Still, some say that; "It is different this time." Yah, sure, that's what they all say and in the end we see those words were wrong, just like before in the ever re-running loop of human endeavors. To best illuminate my point about current affairs, I would like to point to a book you should read:

"20-years Censored News" by Carl Jensen and Project Censored.

This book is a hoot and it has cartoons in it by Tom Tomorrow, which makes it quite humorous and you'll indeed get a laugh out of it, and with that said this whole book would be funny if, it were not indeed so close to reality that it is scary. Take the current events of today, Obama running for president with lots of popular support as if he could do no wrong. Meanwhile the US is on the brink of another war this time with Iran, who promises us that it is not building nuclear weapons, yet continues to enrich uranium.

Then compare these events to the events of past periods; The Russians in Cuba, Henry Kissinger's Essays and the fall of Howard Dean, thanks to the massive media attack. You see the current events and news is still being censored, but somehow every thinks and still believes in it. Funny really and that is what this current affairs book is all about.

Travel, Geography, and Current Events on a Replogle Globe

Nearly every elementary, middle and high school classroom I ever visited contained one of those huge pull-down world maps. The teacher would pull it down and use a pointer to identify those far-away places that, at the time, I never imagined visiting. The world seemed like a very big place from the looks of those maps. But a Chicago businessman started an industry that brings the world closer. Luther Replogle's story is about a product that came to us in a time-honored way-pursuing the American dream.

In the 1920s, Luther Replogle had a job selling sold a variety of classroom and student supplies. But it was the globes he provided to schools that intrigued him. Mr. Replogle had an idea-he believed that every home should have a globe to help the family better understand the news of the day. At the beginning of the Great Depression-a time when stable jobs were hard to find and hard to keep--Mr. Replogle left his job selling school supplies and started a business crafting globes by hand. His business goal was, "A globe in every home."

Mr. Replogle ran his new business out of his home-even manufacturing. Times were tough in the beginning, but in 1933 when the Chicago World's Fair opened, Mr. Replogle's business took off. He received a contract with the Marshall Fields department store to manufacture souvenir globes. In two years time, over 100,000 visitors to the fair purchased a Replogle globe. A few years later, with the start of World War II, people listening to Fireside Chats heard the president tell them, "Get out your globe." Americans listening for news had a tool that would help them understand the developments about the war.

The world changes rapidly, and keeping globes accurate is one of the challenges that a globe manufacturer faces. To ensure the integrity of its products, every Replogle globe has been manufactured with input from government agencies such as the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Board of Geographic Names, and the National Imagery and Mapping Agency to ensure correct country names and accurate political boundaries. Corresponding organizations in foreign countries regularly provide updates to Replogle Globe. Each Replogle globe is designed with attention to in accuracy, assembled with care, and delivered with pride in craftsmanship. This product is synonymous with quality design, innovative style, and precision production.

Anyone who wants to buy a Replogle globe today has a tremendous selection of styles to choose from. If you want a desk globe, you can select a small Replogle globe that is integrated with a desk clock. If you want to introduce a student to geography, you can purchase a globe that shows countries in brilliant colors. You can purchase a Replogle globe that shows not the surface of the Earth, but instead, the constellations in the night skies. For an elegant addition to your home, you can select a Replogle globe in gemstones with gold or silver strips lines of latitude and longitude, or a Replogle globe pieced together with variety of woods. You can choose a crystal globe showing countries in polished chrome, a globe that glows from within with the flip of a switch, and a globe with a leather surface. You can find a floor model Replogle globe, which stand on bases inspired by the works of legendary architects.

The next time you think about adding flowers or candlesticks to your kitchen table, look around your house instead. Put the globe on the table and use it to start a conversation with your family. And don't be surprised, when you check the base, if it's a Replogle globe.

Why You Should Implement Event Triggered Marketing

Although many marketers have experimented with event-triggered marketing, they tend to stick to more simple applications, such as one-off email initiatives. For example, a customer who experiences a technical glitch or abandons an online shopping cart may receive an automatically pushed message.

Large databases and good timing are no longer sufficient to gain new customers and/or effectively market to existing ones. Traditional marketing practices are now dated, as there are significantly more channels for building two-way customer relationships, from phone to print to web to email. Thus, dated one-dimensional practices must evolve, just as the technology has.

Current event-triggered marketing tactics require two things: personalization, and a way to track previous purchases and preferences across many points of contact. To maximize the potential of event-triggered campaigns, marketers must put valuable customer and prospect information to work for them to "trigger" personalized messages, initiatives, and offers.

Some organizational changes may need to be made to existing marketing technologies and processes to fully realize returns on event-triggered campaigns. However, research indicates that the long run payoffs are well work the effort. Findings from Gartner show that a well implemented event-triggered campaign can save up to 80 percent of a marketer's direct mail budget. These savings are earned by using personalized on-demand printing based on triggered events, rather than mass mailings of uniform brochures to an unfiltered list of unqualified prospects. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Once cross-channel event-triggered marketing has been decided upon as a strategic initiative, marketers can easily define goals in terms the entire organization can understand. These include new customer acquisitions as well as increased revenue from existing customers due to highly targeted up-sell and cross-sell offers. Now that marketers can show up to the bargaining table with clearly defined goals and budgets, they are in a much more favorable bargaining position for getting the required funding for technology, as well as approval of new processes, necessary components for making event-triggered marketing part of a long term strategy.

To begin, marketers must set clear goals for event-triggered campaigns targeting both new customers and existing customers. It is of course possible to focus on only one of these groups, and this approach may be the best way to test and evaluate campaigns on a smaller scale. Start by setting easily manageable benchmarks and metrics that can be tracked throughout the campaign.

Next, it is vital to look at your existing technologies and processes. You will need to ensure that the correct technology is in place, and that you are using it to collect data from all customer channels. Just as important, your technology must allow for you to leverage collected customer data, and it should flag anything that is not conforming to your established metrics so that you can make the necessary adjustments.

Gartner has found that event-triggered messages have a response rate that is five times higher than that of non-targeted push messages. These results are attainable for campaigns than pull information from a single database that has automatically tracked customer data from all points of customer contact, from brick and mortar stores to websites to customer support calls and more. If these communications between the customer and company aren't used, it's much more difficult to measure the effect of cross-selling or up-selling customers. By using event-triggered methods based on previous customer actions and trends, marketers gain a full set of tools to initiate new contacts, and bring old ones back for more.

The Demand of Current Events To Cable TV Providers

There are some TV viewers who want to make a special request to include one or more channels to their antenna TV. Since you are not connected with a cable, satellite or digital TV, there is no chance that someone can provide what you've wished for. If they want to make a request for any channel they want, there's only one thing we should do. We must inquire to a local cable TV provider in our area, and to ask for the channels to be integrated with your TV. They can provide it for us, only if we subscribe with one of their packages.

Most of us now are doing this for long, because it's a great demand like no other. Speaking of demand, watching news and current events are one of them. Why is it that news and current events are now in great demand for most cable TV subscribers? Why do they need it for their package, and how will it give more benefits to them? First of all, watching news and current events in your TV is very important. It is very important because we need to get updated with the latest happenings around the world, especially in our area.

Going back to the antenna TV, they can provide you local news programs for you to watch in a single channel. Most of us understand that most of them are variety and not fixed which were transmitted from your TV's antenna to a local TV station. But if we try to subscribe with our local TV provider, there is no problem for us to watch the latest in current events. Instead of waiting for the time slot, we can watch news anytime we want for twenty-four hours daily. But it's not necessary that we will watch news all day long, but rather in your convenient time.

If you are looking for two of the best news channels today, they can be watched in your cable TV. It is not going to be included in your local TV station which you stick into an antenna TV. The most popular channels that we're talking about are CNN and Fox News, and they are very reliable. It gives us the latest news and current events around the world. But they consider themselves as variety, because they will also provide updates on sports, weather, technology, health, education and a lot more.

Both of these channels are on great demand by the cable TV subscribers, and they want them to be included in their package. In order for them to do that, they must choose a huge cable, satellite or digital TV package. There are some starter or beginner packages that don't include some of the top news channels and others as well. It will only give them less satisfaction, unless you we're satisfied enough. But if you go for a larger package, these news channels will be included for sure. Not only that, you will also enjoy watching up to two hundred channels at home. This is how news and current events are in great demand for cable TV subscribers, and we need it so bad.

Obama, the Paper Tiger in DC (Ltr, 9, Current Events 3-9-2009)

We have some real problems, we are warning everybody everywhere, and everyone is saying the paper tiger has spoken now let's do what we said we're going to do. We should do one of two things: shut up, or put up of fists.

Korea has been telling us for five-years, it is going to build a rocket that will reach the United States, and now they have, and now they are going to launch it, and we are warning them not to. What is a warning? It is only worth what you are willing to do. Bush proved his warnings were deadly. Obama, his warnings are like a paper tiger, and he have Hillary to speak on his behalf. And that is why Korea said, "We'll go to war?" Not sure who with, I suppose they mean the United States; if so, I think we better call Bush back.

They have been blackmailing Japan and South Korea for twenty-years, and the US for almost as long. The point is, now they will have the stuff to really do what they been saying for twenty years they'd like to do, blackmail and point their guns.

The Question is "Do we go to war?" Or let them do what they did on December 7, 1941. Bomb Peal Harbor; we keep thinking they will not, but have we forgotten 9/11; Iraq is over, let's move on, we got other business and interests, and we're dogged down there, so we're afraid to do anything elsewhere. We should readjust our thinking to those that can hurt us.

We want to build a shield in Europe, let the Europeans do it, not the tax paying folks in America, we've been paying their bills for sixty-years, when is enough, enough.

Back to Korea, let them start the war, blow their rocket out of the air, and if they do start a war, well this time let's finish it, and be done with it, and forget an armistice. But Obama, not knowing the military world, is at a party singing Happy Birthday to Kennedy, who was the character in the book "Dark Waters." And dark they are.

We are also warning Iran. What is all this warning business; let Israeli do what they do best, like Elvis would say, "Taking care of business."

We've been paying Israel to stand down, like a clown, while they build a nuclear plant, for power they say, when they got more oil than Exxon. Now let's stop kidding ourselves, they don't need it to warm their homes-it's hot enough over there, and they don't need it for gas, only half the population can drive, women are not allowed, and they don't need it for cooking, they need it for Israel. They said they want to obliterate Israel, and Obama thinks, talk therapy will work, that's only in the movies.

On the third subject here, I wish he'd stop spending all the tax money he hasn't collected yet. He's giving $160 billion to the international banking system, for a smile, to keep the rich from falling on their knees. And another one trillion to a stimulus program, his own party don't want a party to, but like ducks they are in line. And this is just the beginning. The Ice berg is deep, and if it comes up it will be like flooding all of Greenland.

The only thing I can say about Obama in his less than two months in office is, he gave a black lady a home, or some financial support, and that came out of the tax payer's pocket, not his. I think he forgot, money is earned, not grown.

Covering Current Events for Children's Publications Can Be Tricky

Since at least 1928, when "My Weekly Reader" debuted in elementary school classrooms, publishers have been attempting to cover current events for children. "My Weekly Reader" was an accepted and unquestioned part of children's lives for decades. I remember looking forward to each issue, which got passed out once a week and which I got to keep.

Looking back, I remember the weekly newspaper a bit differently. I remember one story that told of children in communist Southeast Asia being encouraged to turn in their parents for alleged subversive activity, and another piece about the wonders of nuclear energy, which was touted as "clean" and the wave of the future.

News or propaganda? The problems in Southeast Asia grew into the seemingly unending Vietnam War, and nuclear energy was later attacked for its potential dangers and its anything but clean waste products. Information that was being fed to fourth- and fifth-graders as settled fact was anything but.

Which brings us to the question--how do we bring current events into the classroom? Do we discuss the social and political events happening in the world today, and how? Current events include the much disputed war in Iraq, the firing of eight U.S. attorneys, possibly for political reasons, and the health care insurance crisis. The issues involve homeland security, the separation of powers, and the basis of the economic structure in this country--big topics for ten-year-olds.

It's important, when bringing current and often controversial topics into the classroom, for teachers to avoid imposing their own personal views onto the students, to provide a variety of age-appropriate written materials that offer a factual basis for the discussions, and to allow students to discuss the issues and express their own views without criticism. Teachers should also make an effort to include local, as well as national, issues in the discussion.
